Moomin Swedish : Mumin or ' Mumintrollen ; Finnish : Muumipeikko is a comic strip created by Tove Janssonand followed up by Lars Janssonfeaturing their Moomin family of characters. It was written between andat the request of the editor, a friend of Jansson's, Atos Wirtanen. The series was published with two new strips weekly, and was mainly an adaptation of Comet in Moominland.

From tothe late Finnish artist Jansson drew a comic strip about her creation Moomin for the London Evening News. Though the strip was an enormous success around the world, this is the first North American edition of an expressive and endearing classic. Moomin's stories begin simply he needs to rid his home of freeloaders, or goes on a family vacation and snowball into a series of amusing, whimsical misadventures, which can involve elements of the fantastic, like magic, monsters and ghosts. Although Moomin, his parents and his girlfriend, Snorkmaiden, are trolls, they look like friendly hippopotamuses.
There were just three stipulations when Charles Sutton approached Tove Jansson about creating a Moomin comic strip for the London Evening News in no politics, sex or death. Sutton, syndication director of Associated Newspapers, had headhunted Jansson for the position after the phenomenal success of English translations of the Moomin books. She hoped that this financial security would enable her to spend more time on her true passion: working as a fine artist.
